Kayla and Peter’s journey to walking down the aisle is what quick and intense love stories are made of!

How They Met

Sometime in 2016, Kayla’s cousin told her that she wanted her to meet a Hungarian boy named Peter who was the youth pastor at River Valley Christian Church (RVCC) in Lake Elmo, MN. She attended a Bible study shortly after where she saw him, but they didn’t really meet or express any real interest in each other.

One day in January 2017, Kayla led worship at RVCC and it was that day that Peter noticed HER. However, he was in a relationship and so again, nothing came of it. It wasn’t until August 2018 when his prior relationship ended that he started asking around about Kayla.

Then finally, on January 7th 2019, Kayla went on a blind date (that she had been given a heads up COULD be with Peter) with Roger and Myrna, her cousin’s grandma and grandpa. It was after that day that they started talking about all the deep things very quickly, like “how do your parents handle conflict?” and
“why do you think Christians don’t get healed when they pray for healing?” in an effort to figure out if they were a good match. On Valentine’s Day, they made it official and 3 short months later, Peter proposed at Willow River State Park, slipping her dream rose gold engagement ring on her finger while someone photographed the entire thing (something she had always wanted).

The Wedding

The wedding planning was quick; they set their date for October 12th, 2019, just 5 months after getting engaged. Turns out, this is Peter’s parents’ anniversary (and fun fact: Kayla’s sister was married on HER parents’ anniversary) and it was not planned to be that way but certainly confirmed something in them that this was meant to be.

On the day of their wedding, we had some crazy October weather with some snow/rain and it left Kayla and Peter moving their ceremony from an outdoor location in Stillwater to RVCC in Lake Elmo and their reception to Kilkarney Hills Golf Course in River Falls. Everyone pulled together to make this change happen so quickly! Certainly a day to remember for everyone involved!

I want to make note of one thing I found interesting when going through their gallery during editing. While the bridal party was getting ready at The Heritage House in Stillwater (a beautiful new wedding venue), my second shooter was photographing Peter and his groomsmen/family while I was photographing Kayla getting into her dress with her bridesmaids and family. I noticed that at the EXACT SAME MOMENT, Peter was being prayed over while Kayla was also being prayed over - this was not planned! It was literally down to the seconds, and I do think this was divine timing :)

I’m so happy for Peter and Kayla and can’t wait to see your family grow in the future!
