James and Angie met on Match.com, after James sent a message saying “Hi. I’m James. We should play a game of cribbage sometime.” So that’s what they did on their first date – dinner at a diner and cribbage! James said that Angie was the only girl he ever wanted to go on a second date with from the website.Read More
When helping my clients decide on a package and create a wedding day timeline, I always ask my couples: do you plan on having a first look? More and more, the answer is YES! While I would never forcefully push a couple to include a first look and would ALWAYS respect their wishes to see each other for the first time walking down the aisle, there are a lot of benefits to first looks.Read More

order save the dates online + other picture-perfect stationary ideas from basic invite
As a wedding photographer, one of my favorite parts of the wedding day is when I get to photograph all the details. Unfortunately, when I got married almost 10 years ago, I didn’t pay attention to invitations and programs too much – I was so interested in saving money that I cut some corners, and stationary was one thing that I decided to DIY. I’m honestly not the most creative with décor and stationary, so if I could do it all over again, I’d RUN (not walk, RUN) to Basic Invite, a unique and definitely NOT basic custom invitation and stationary experience!
I recently partnered with Basic Invite and got to see the entire process, from design to proofs to delivery and then ultimately photographing them! The design process was so much fun and fairly easy; I was not overwhelmed and yet had so many options. With over 180 colors and so many designs, there are limitless options when it comes to creating your perfect wedding stationary.
Here are some of my favorite features about Basic Invite and why I recommend them to all my couples and even my high school seniors:
Colors - Over 180 colors options on the stationary and over 40 different colors for envelopes!
Matching Sets - All wedding invitations are part of a set. You can find everything from save the dates to wedding invitations and enclosure cards, wedding menus, wedding programs and even matching thank you cards.
Address Collection - They have a free address collection service – share a link, collect addresses, and get free envelope printing! This was one of my pain points: gathering addresses! Anything a company can do to make your life easier is a huge win!
Samples - Basic Invite is one of the few websites that allows customers the ability to order a printed sample of their actual invitation so they can see exactly how it will print as well as the paper quality before they ever have to place their final order. HUGE!
Wedding Websites - They offer completely customizable wedding websites (move over The Knot) that are mobile friendly and can match your stationary perfectly! You can upload your wedding details, images+love story, maps, and other information that your guests need to know.
So Many Products - They do more than basic stationary! One of their featured products is personalized coasters for weddings, I don’t know about you, but I struggled with unique party favors at my wedding, and personalized coasters are the perfect gift for guests to bring home!
I got to have some fun and personalize a few save the dates. My husband and I’s 10th wedding anniversary is next year, so I dreamt up what our save the dates would look like if we had a vow renewal!
Are you ready to order save the dates online yet? Make sure to bookmark Basic Invite and come back to it! If you’re not getting married any time soon, you can customize these for birthday parties, graduation parties, anniversary parties, baby showers and so much more. I loved this clear save the date so much!
When I first started corresponding with Jayson and Brittany, they had a June 2019 date picked for their wedding. When we met for their engagement photos at Swinging Bridge Brewing Company they informed me that they had changed their plans and were planning a small, non-traditional intimate wedding in March!Read More
On a cold January day, Andy swore to protect and serve the Wausau community as a full time police officer, and then he got down on one knee and proposed to Danielle in front of everyone. Spoiler alert: she said yes and swore to spend the rest of her life with him. If that’s not the cutest engagement story I don’t know what is!Read More
